Bigger feel?

Hello everyone! I'd love some ideas for this kitchen. I thought about removing some of the cabinets on the sink side and doing shelves. I'd like to replace the appliances with stainless steel, remove the microwave and put in a hood, but where do we put the microwave? Any suggestions will help?

What is on the other side of the fridge and pantry? It would seem to me that recessing that portion of the wall a mere 6" would give you a much more open feel to the room.

This is an over-the-counter MW that primarily attaches to a wall. It fits under a 24"wide cabinet. You can go to Home Depot online and download installation instructions including retro fit.

Most other MW must attach to a cabinet above. We are installing as if new construction but the instructions show other options.
