IDing existing garden beds

last modified: 11 years ago

We moved into this house last fall. Things are growing and I am making plans to start turning the gardens in to mine. I'm trying to figure out if there is anything useful in some of the beds around the house. I have wildflowers and snapdragons I want to put somewhere but I wouldn't mind keeping some of the things I find. I started raking through everything looking for bulbs or signs of perennials I might want to leave. I came up with 2 groundcovers. 1 has little pairs of leaves with roots at each pair and grows in long strings. The other has groups of leaves and roots at a central location. I think this is a groundcover but I did see a section that was growing more up so maybe it will get taller. It's covering a lot of low area right now.

It's hard to see them all tangled together in the mess of leaves and last year's stems

This spot I was raking out a row of bulbs I found
