Not to brag, but...

I scarified 12 canna seeds (very common old-fashioned ones) on March 4, put them in test tubes with filtered, boiled and cooled water (my tap water has significant chlorine added), placed on them on nice warm radiator, and got root sprouts in 4 days on all of them. Potted up in solo cups, by March 12, back on radiator, 5 had sprouted little green leaves. Today, all 12 have leaves, some over an inch tall.

I don't know if this success rate, so far, is unusual but I attribute it to (a) bottom heat and (b) eliminating chlorine from water. Many years ago I had difficulty in proofing yeast for bread baking until I used filtered water. Chlorine is not a friend of organisms that want to grow.
