There are about 20 blooming
now, mainly night star x giraffe, in a remarkable variety of patterns and
pastel shades – here’s a selection:

All of these are night
star flowers pollinated with giraffe pollen, but I do also have
giraffe pollinated by night star. The latter also produced a
similar variety of forms and colours - these pictures are from last year’s
flowers. So it seems that this
particular cross is productive in both directions

Was the pollen donor H. Giraffe, or did you make crosses both ways? I will have blooms from both soon and hope to get as good of results as those posted here. This is a great lesson as to the variety that you can achieve from a single cross!

Hippiezep, I like all of them but I want the last one :) A couple of them remind me of Australian Dendrobiums. Very successful breeding!

Wow, what a fantastic diversity of blooms from that cross! There are a lot of great ones there.

what a show ! And all from the same cross. Are there some rules as to guess more or less what will result from a cross ? When you want to cross your favorite hippi, is the choice to make it 'mother' or pollen donor important and why ?

I call this one ‘white goddess’ – one of the night star x
giraffe from 2010 blooming for a second year.
Of the pale jade green ones, this is probably the most pleasing in
colour and also form with the slightly crinkled edges. A definite keeper.
