Master Bedroom / Bathroom Remodel

I have dark stained doors throughout my home along with dark base, casings, etc. My windows are also dark stained wood around. I want my bedroom to feel a bit lighter and would like to have white trim around the doors and base. I'm not changing out the existing window which is stained and therefore would have dark trim around. Is this a bad idea? Should I just stay true to the look throughout the house or can I make a change and have it work? Also I would be installing new double doors into the bathroom. Would these need to be stained or could they be painted white? Any advice would be appreciated.
