Mushrooms Sprouting Everywhere

We have an outbreak of mushrooms on my marly hilltop under Live Oaks . I have these below that I have never seen before. I think I have seen their dead shriveled leathery remains but they are normally so ephemeral here that I guess I just miss them. I had to break out the very unused mushroom book to ID them. Helvella acetabellum. I like the white vein structures on the outside, They are like brown ground roses. Good indicator for morels or so they say. I would do a triple flip if I ran into some of them. Edibility of these unknown but the rubbery texture would mean not too good to eat in the book's author’s opinion. It has the texture of wood ear fungus which chinese eat, and I do too. These guys are pushing up everywhere. Usually I get boletus. Time to walk around while praying for morels.
