Arif, it looks like what I expect from my crossing with H. Jewel. I can see the parents in the bloom. Nice bright red, white tips, hint of a white star. Any hint of sweet scent?

No scent.

Breeding doubles is quite dis-appointing, Mostly this is what you get.

NO problem cut the deformed stamens and use it as cut flower.

Another failure,

Some of the semi doubles have a stigma as in above picture, if I was to pollinate it with a complete double would I get better results?

I like your mutts. I wonder if you would get more doubling if you crossed them with themselves.

i especially like the second one in this last group of six. That curly cue on the interior tip of the doubles is quite appealing. And 8 inch flowers are most impressive. Years of patience!

I know not the reason but I am loosing interest in Doubles.

If I had to choose only one style, I guess I'd pass on doubles and focus on the large "singles", but I'm thankful that I don't have to choose. I do love Alfresco...scented, white, and fluffy.

Mutts or not, there is some fascinating variation among these hybrids
