It's beautiful! I had it years ago and loved it. Unfortunately it isn't the most vigorous rose and can be winter tender. I've been meaning for some time to replace it anyway so I just did this spring. I can't wait to see it bloom!

Oh, that bloom is gorgeous! I've had my Just Joey for about 7 years, and even in our mild winters, it tends to have major dieback...but always recovers. This year it's looking iffy on whether it survived the second tough winter in a row for our zone, though. Will miss those pretty colored blooms if it doesn't make it.

I've had mine (zone 3 overwintered in the garage) for 4 years. It's lovely...but mine still have NO fragrance. Does anyone else here have no fragrance on JJ?

Carol, is your garage heated or attached to the house? I've overwintered a couple pots in the shed this year but it's a separate building and not heated - I can't imagine it's been any warmer than outside and I know the pots did freeze in there. I'm just hoping they lived!

My garage is attached to the house, unheated, but insulated. Pots got in watered really well. I water 1 cup a month starting in February. Blankets come off and go on depending on the weather.

By now if they're alive you should have growth (pale/yellow - break off) on the roses. Try watering them, and see. You can also try cutting a bit of cane off (light prune) and see what color the pith is.

Thanks Ladies. I agree not the most vigorous rose even here. I had 'Brandy' which was hugely vigorous and a fast repeater. But the brassy color didn't work for me. Would look great in a hot-color garden.

What a great picture. I have a JJ and I find it to be less than vigorous and not much of a bloomer, but when it does produce a flower it is something to be seen.
