Worms and assorted flying things

So I've got two bins going right now, and both have fairly serious issues with "fruit flies." There are actually two different flying things. The first are small, black, slow, and easy to kill. The second are tannish and a tad bigger, and much more aerobatic. Bins are in the basement, flies are all over the house.

bin 1 is a rubbermaid container with some holes that was given to me, and the bedding is primarily shredded office paper. On top of the paper, I have a couple layers of wet newspaper.

Bin 2 is a Worm factory, bedding is mostly coir, with some shredded newspaper, and again, a few layers of wet news paper on top.

I'm sure the source is a combination of overfeeding and not chopping stuff small enough that went in. so certainly there is a path forward. But in the meantime, what's the best way to get rid of the flies while protecting the worms? I have a few vinegar traps around the bins and in my kitchen, which have gotten some, but not enough, and I can't physically smash them fast enough. I may just sit both bins outside so at least the flies aren't in the house, but it is too cold to do that now.
