Contest time!

Now that spring's finally here, let's have a little contest!

I have an unknown pink I made two cuttings of--a 1-tip and a center cut--that will be the prize to the contestant who can name the date my first Maverick flower opened this year.

Contest closes on Saturday midnight Central time!

That is a great idea! Very generous for you to share. I'm looking through your posts and comments, but no luck so far.

I'm going to take a guess around January 1st.

I'll give you all a hint: I discovered the inflo in November.

    What a great contest!!

Good luck to the lucky winner....

I'll just watch from the sidelines !!

    Maverick sure is a beauty ! ;-)

    Thank you Jen!!

Hi Laura! Cool enough for you? :)

    Grrrrrr......

Fingers Crossed! I have been looking at buying a cutting but I can't justify it right now so I just bought some seeds and I am hoping to grow my collection. I have a Plumeria that my sister in law brought back from Hawaii. It was a gift to my wife but she almost killed it and I nursed it back to life and a couple of days ago I noticed that it has branched and it looks like it is about to flower. I have no idea what kind of flower or color it is. I think that it is about 2 years old now, but it doesn't look like the ones everyone else is posting. There is about an inch between each leaf... grows kinda fast. I only get 12-15 new leaves a season.

Thanks for doing this Jen (Jandy1). Someone is going to be one happy Planter!

Mona.. 70 yesterday .. Today 40 degrees and flurries tomorrow?

    Ugh.. I'm ready for spring!!!

As Jen has said before. " oh come on already... Lol!"

    Good luck everyone!!!

Jordan.. Congratulations for saving your beauty !! They are all different!! That's why we get into so much trouble!! Lol...

    Laura

    Thanks! I am hoping it's a PP!

Laura - Jen will forever be remembered for that! lol

Jordan - you are going to love growing seedlings. Don't go getting addicted, okay? :)

Sorry to Jen for the hijacking.

Jordan - about your plumeria... you said you noticed it had branched, and looked like it was going to flower. And that it looked different. Google Pudica and see if that's what you have.

    HHHhhmmm... I would guess 2/28/15 :)

    Chuy

Ooh, lots of good guesses! Tomorrow is the deadline. The cuttings will go to whoever is closest.

Another hint: It took a long time to develop from inflo to blooms over winter.

Mona, no worries! Happy to see you and Laura on here, even though I know you're toughing it out with your longer winter season. And yes, I'm glad to be known for "Ohcomeonalready" rather than the saltier things I say. :)

Jen - never fear that we think you all sugar and no spice! lol

Good to see you, too. Don't know how tough we are being with this weather. Myself, I just whine and pout a lot. It helps. :)

Mona, have you tried pouting first and then whining? Sometimes it's the order you do it in ;)

Sheesh, I wish I would have seen this earlier. We were having snow flurries. I whined before I pouted!! Got my game face on now. Will reverse the order. lol

Hi Jen, It is nice of you to do another contest. The plant you sent me from your spring 2013 contest (Thai Peterson's gold) is doing good.

    Bill

I've been waiting for 11:00, knowing we were an hour ahead of central time. Bad calculation.

Would make one wonder where I got my education. lol

Maybe I'll be up to see who the winner is. :)

Congratulations, Rox! You've won! These flowers took ages to open and March 15th was the magic date.

Let me know if you want them shipped, or want to pass them along to another player. The cuttings are not Maverick, but a NOID pink.

Bill, great to hear your PG is doing well!

OMG!!!! Jandey, I NEVER win any thing....of course I want them....and will then think of you each time I see them in the yard.... SOOOOOOO excited. A little voice had told me March 7th and I was so curious thinking I was way too far off. Sure ship them....how/when/where????

Congrats!!! Hey Moonie, (not to highjack this thread) But I did look up the Pudica and I don't think that I have one of those. My leave s are WAY to big, they are just spaced out alot further than any of the ones I have seen. and as far as being addicted goes... it might have already happened! :)

Oh and BTW Jandey...any info or photo on the noid pink? Just curious...roxanne

    Jen,
Gr8 game!!! Rox congrats. I smell the plumies in the air already as spring has sprung.

Congratulations, Roxanne! I know you're excited!

Jordan - did your plumeria branch without flowering first?

Well, kinda I guess. It shoot up and out at the same time. but the blossoms haven't opened up yet. I wish i could post a picture. I will create a new post with a picture attached. I feel bad for going WAY off topic! (but I am loving the help!)

Aw, Rox, I can't believe this is your first win! Good for you!

This pink makes gorgeous foliage and is very hardy (except against the neighborhood deer, which is how the cutting ended up a single-tip--grrr). It's possible that it may be Andaman, but I really don't know. They're curing now, so I'll ship this week. Please message me your address!

Here it is, the mystery pink:

Jandey, such a pretty pink and the only thing I have ever won was my husband almost 40 years ago... :-) Cannot wait to smell it.

Rox, I got the info I needed from our friend! Just trying to find a good box to send them in now. I'll let you know when they go out!

Rox, the only thing I'm missing is your last name, and I can't figure out how to email you from the forum. Do you know how to send me a private message? I'd like to ship to you today. Thanks!

Awesome Roxanne!! Deleted this to see what you were trying to say.. I don't see the ads.. Maybe you need to go back to the main section and find the plumeria section. Did you bookmark it?

So glad they arrived safely! I can't remember the scent, but the flowers are pretty big and reflex a lot. And I don't think you can kill this particular plumie, LOL.
