Sorry Amanda. :( Where are you?

South OKC. Our house was hit 2 years ago. Our kids go to one of the schools destroyed in that tornado. Tonight the tornado was just 1 mile away. We had NO warning. No sirens. Just had to basically throw everyone in the shelter. We had no damage. Just emotionally done with these stupid tornados!

*hugs* Amanda. Must be awful. I know the feeling with this area's earthquakes (We just had one 5 minutes ago). Some places in Oklahoma are just tornado magnets!

Amanda we have been hit by a tornado here too so I know how you feel. Our damage was just trees and outbuildings but it passed over the house.

When they start talking tornadoes, it sure gets our attention.

    Glad you are ok.

Amanda, It is just terrible that y'all have been through so much with these storms the last couple of years. I hope that you're feeling better this morning. My nerves would be shot by now if I lived there. Your photos are awesome---beautiful and scary all at the same time.

You do seem to live in a specific region that is more prone to tornadoes than anywhere else in the state of Oklahoma. It is incredible how often southern OKC, Moore and Norman have had tornadoes these last few years.

It is unfortunate that y'all did not have an official Tornado Warning before this one hit. As good as our forecasting techniques are nowadays, there still will be tornadoes that form suddenly and are unwarned, and I know that is a concern the NWS has---that we all will forget that if a storm forms near us, we may see it, hear it and feel its effects even before they can transmit a warning.

Glenda, So glad to hear you are okay there. I hope the damage to the outbuildings and trees was not too bad. Grateful it missed your house.

momfryhover, Is that you? Every time your area gets hit by yet another tornado, I say to myself that it must be a wonderful place to live because people stay there despite the repeated hits by tornadoes. I don't think I could do it. I probably could handle being hit once by a tornado, figuring that anywhere in OK you have a chance of eventually getting hit by a tornado. After it happened a second time, I'd be thinking about moving. I think someday maybe science will find an answer for why the southern OKC/Moore/Norman areas are so much more prone to have tornadoes, but even if they figure out why, there's nothing anyone can do to prevent it from happening.

I had just come in from the garden the other night and turned on The Weather Channel a few minutes before y'all get hit, and when they said the Moore/southern OKC/Norman area was being hit by another tornado, it was staggering news that I found hard to believe....just as an observer over 100 miles away. I cannot imagine what it would have felt like to be there going through that sort of experience yet again.

I hope you all are okay.

    Dawn
