Maybe it is just the wrong time of the year. Other than occasionally seeing straw imported from other states, I only see straw for sale after they've harvested wheat down here, which is probably in the May time frame most years.

Have you tried looking on your local Craig's List?

Sometimes I see bales of straw in our local Tractor Supply Company store, but I don't think I see it this early in the year. Seems like it is is summer or autumn. I'm going there this afternoon. If I see any straw I'll let you know.

There's also a website that is an Internet Hay Exchange that also has a straw exchange. I don't know if you'll find any OK straw listings on it. Then, there's the Straw Bale Market page where you can post a free "ad" looking for bales of straw or if you're selling straw. I glanced at their page and it seems like tons of folks are looking for straw and not nearly as many are selling it.

Atwoods had straw 2 weeks ago.

The Tractor Supply Company store in Gainesville this afternoon had straw bales in the horse feed section. They weren't priced, and there wasn't anyone back there to ask, but if you have any TSC stores near you, you might try calling them. This wasn't the kind of straw I'm used to seeing in local feed stores....stacked up and looking like bales of straw. This was clean and beautiful, baled very tightly compressed and wrapped in clear plastic with a commercial label on it. It looked almost too perfect to be straw.
