I'm curious to hear about it too. I see it for sale ALL of the time around Phoenix but have never given it a try. Anyone know how it does long-term in the warm winter parts of AZ? I've seen it as a summer annual in the midwest and as a perennial in CA, but I too am curious. Good thread, cruzer! Happy gardening all!

I have had pretty terrible luck with madnevillas . . . I've tried a couple varieties in containers and in the ground in areas with afternoon shade . . . they croaked on me :-( during the summer heat . . .

Figured I was just doing something wrong because they DO sell them everywhere here in the Valley . . . but I gave up on them

they are described as tropical but although I see them for sale I have never seen one growing.

I managed to keep one alive for for about 2 1/2 years with very poor performance in the hot summers and mediocre performance in the winters. It died the second winter even before it got cold.
