Thanks shavedmonkey, honestly when I saw the spike I was shocked, and I really would love to see the colour so the spike shall remain. I do have two plants so it's not really a big risk.Velleta

That's a nice spike. Leave it. It will show you how pretty it can be! Congratulations!

I agree with letting the spike be. You can always continue to monitor its healthy and cut the spike later if the plant starts to struggle. Don't forget to post pics of the awesome blooms when they open. :)

Thanks Jane and Darlene. I am excited about it. And yes I will post pic as soon as the flowers open. This will go down as the quickest orchid I bought that spiked. This orchid is really working on making me happy. Velleta

So just an update on my spiking rootless Brassia, I added the spagnum around the root area just to help with moisture, and while on my misting this morning I saw this.Its producing a new root, this little guy is like supercharged. I am so happy, he obviously intends to stick around.the spike has also grow too, pic below. I also decided to do over the repot on the one in the pot because I find that my oncidiums dry out so quickly, ( add spagnum moss)to its mix and when I unpotted it I was pleasantly surprised to find it too had grown a few roots so both are doing great.
