I also like your growing setup. Do you have water/racks in those trays? I need to come up with a plan for this summer when plants need to come indoors to escape the extreme heat we're sure to have!

Thanks! Those are shallow Rubbermaid containers, like the ones that would go under your bed or inside of other containers. Inside the trays, I have 2-3 layers of the lighting egg crate. It keeps the plants dry. I like this little set up because it allows me to water in place and in the trays.

I want to eventually add a small drainage hole or maybe even a spigot to allow the water to drain out. I have not had the need for it yet but it would be useful if I placed the orchids in the trays outside. I usually remove them from their trays when they go on summer vacation.

Thanks ily68. I wish I could grow any orchid on a tree! Unfortunately my weather does not permit that type of culture.

The only bad thing about that, is that I have a lot of fruit trees, they lose a lot of leaves. Right now, I have leaves all over my yard. We pick them up, they come back. I live in Miami, Fl, it's very hot here. We rarely get any winter, and when we do, doesn't last too much. I thought I lived in zone 10, now I see there's a zone 10a and 10b. I believe Miami is in zone 10b. I have to repot a lot of orchids now. I'm dreading it, always scared I'm going to kill them. Some like where they're at, some don't. All the orchids love 1 of my mango trees, the Keitt, but I can't attach all of them there. I already have 3 attached, and others hanging. I also have other mangos and avocado trees, which some have orchids on them too. That's why the vandas are so good, you just attached them to the tree, and you don't have to do anything else.
