I love sedums too, Toucan, and like you, have lost so many of them in summer. However, I DO grow two types that have done great for me in the 15 years that I've lived here (from Seattle in 2000). "Mexican sedum", Sedum adolphii is one that really thrives for me long term. I just give them bright shade or morning sun and water only when VERY dry. Here's one that's been in the same pot for three years outside every day of the year. I love that golden leaf color. Mine even bloom once a year (this one included).

The other one that has been a long term success for me is good ol' "pork and beans" sedum, Sedum rubrotinctum. I give them the same conditions and they do great for me (although some of my friends have had less success with them than I have, so Mexican sedum seems easier to most folks). Here's a pot of them in a small talavera hen pot. They and their friends have done great for me for several years outside full time.

Other types, not so much, LOL. Hopefully others will chime in with some long-term surviving sedums!
