Yes the mirror is too small by itself, but if you did a grouping of mirrors and artwork perhaps, it could look awesome. I do like the roundness of it also.

I agree about not putting a mirror there unless you have something great to reflect, and the other wall isn't it.

Go with a nice landscape oriented picture of something you love in the colors in the room.

One of my favourite designers says he never runs around trying to find the right size of mirror. He goes directly to a framing shop and has them made. He said they are a competitive price, but I don't know. Might be worth a call. If you desire a mirror rather than art, you should consider an antique mirror finish instead. I doubt when you are seated at the table you can actually see yourself chomping food, it looks to be higher than that looking at your photo.

I think a round mirror would look great there. I got a 36 inch round (which I think would be a better size for you) at Crate and Barrel. Called the Dish Round Mirror. Good Luck!

Keep the size within the footprint of the firebox below to assure the right balance. I presume it will double the chandelier, not the diners, so that will look great.
