the owner is a maroon ... he planted it for instant gratification .. with no concept that conifers.. as trees.. NEVER stop growing ... it will be a problem.. sooner or later ...

Yes, I'd think a Juniperus before a Chamaecyparis. Maybe 'Whichita Blue' or some derivative thereof. Then again, can't really see the foliage that well.

Could Skyrocket juniper, very narrow, like an Italian cypress.

I crushed the foliage and no smell whatsoever so rule out cypress or juniper. I asked the guy behind the counter why they are planted so close and he said "don't worry about it" LOL When I asked what kind of soil they are growing in he said they are in pure gravel. How is that even possible????
