Transplanting Leeks into Garden

I am in Northern VA, zone 7a and started leeks in my basement on about January 1, 2015. I have already given them a haircut and they are getting tall again. The last frost occurs here around April 10-15. I plan to transplant them into their garden home this weekend. Is it too early?

I just planted mine today, LFD in late April. Dixondale said to plant them as long as it isn't forecast to go below 20. And the entire country is forecast for a warm spell so I think you are definitely safe.

I had about 25 leeks left over when the space I set aside for them was full. What do you think about growing leeks in containers? I may try it.

Dixondale sent me what looked like a whole bunch rather than the half I ordered... I must have planted 60 and still had a ton left over. I gave my extras away to my family. The containers idea sounds good, it was recommended by Google :)
