You can probably direct seed (outdoors) Chinese cabbage, leeks, peas, spinach; plant garlic, shallots, seed potatoes, as well as asparagus crowns, horseradish roots and onion sets. Very soon you should be able to set out transplants of cruciferous veggies like broccoli, cabbage and cauliflower. Many other seeds can be direct sown this month, but it has been a late spring, so check soil temperatures.

For warm weather crops like tomatoes, peppers and such, wait until the soil has warmed before planting ... probably not before mid-May.

There are lots of things you can start from seed indoors if you are so inclined.
