I'm wondering how often a transplanted violet needs watering?

I broke up a violet that had three plants all crowded together and successfully repotted them. I know you are suppose to water them from the bottom only. What I don't know is how often. The soil appears dry, but the plants appearing to be doing o.k. I read somewhere that the soil should be moist when you touch it.

Help please.
