It looks like a species of Sphaeralcea or globe mallow, of which Arizona has at least several native species. I am jealous because I actually had to BUY one that looks like that (and it doesn't look nearly as thriving)!

Yes, it's desert globe mallow. I have a few volunteers myself. Love them!

Globe mallow is one of the most common wildflowers in AZ. Drive along I-10 around Tucson and you'll see millions of them. lining the highway.

Agreed about desert globemallow. I get them now and then and usually just let them do their thing. There are hybrids with flowers from white through reds, pinks, and lavenders, but since orange is my favorite color, the wild type orange is my favorite. Just remember that the bristles on the leaves and stems easily brush off onto clothes and hands and are VERY irritating to the eyes. That's why one of their common names is "sore eye poppy" in English and "mal de ojos" in Spanish. Not major, I just wear gloves when trimming and wash my hands when I'm done. Yours is a nice young specimen! Happy gardening all!
