I just read the article on "Duo". We raise corn for our stocker cattle operation so I am well aware of the roundup resistance on a large scale, I just don't know the answer. With the family farm disappearing and those of us left to pick up the balance, chemicals are a must. However, large chemical companies are like pharmaceutical company's, they do not have our best interest at heart. We must all be good stewards of the land, and do what is best for our future generations.

When they developed Round-up Ready crops, we all knew that Round-up resistant weeds would result, and so they did. None of this is surprising, and it is particularly not surprising that the EPA approved a chemical already shown to cause cancer. By the time plants are developing resistance to this new and apparently dangerous herbicide, some company will have developed the next generation. That's how it always has been.....with new herbicides (and pesticides as well) always in development to be ready for the market when the current favorites lose effectivity as plants and pests develop tolerance to them. There are lots of pesticides and herbicides banned in Europe that still are widely used here. I doubt it ever will change. Our government does not have our people's best interests at heart either. It is so discouraging.

It is discouraging. An ag aquantance said if they approve it here we will have to garden in hightunnels everything will be gone except cotton and wheat, but they are all for it.

I disagree with most of you guys. I have worked for a large pharmaceutical company, and I have worked in agriculture. Almost every single decision maker I have interacted with has been a great person and most definitely had people's best interest at heart. But they almost all base decisions on research and fact and not emotions. There are 5% that do not, which is smaller than the population as a whole by about 42%.
