Need advice about a quince tree

Hi, I recently bought a fruiting quince tree from Fast-grow-trees, and it was supposed to be a well branched and well rooted tree. However, the tree that was delivered was just one long whip, no branches what so ever! It was 5-6 feet tall, but with no branches, not a single one. It is now beginning yo bud and develop leaves as well, so I guess it is coming out of dormancy. But, shouldn't the tree have had branches? These are supposed to be more mature trees. I am wondering if I have a flowering bush instead? It is supposed to be a Smyrna Quince. Other fruit trees I received from them all were pretty well branched but this one.

Any advice would be appreciated.

PS- it was growing so tall, I actually cut off about 2.5 feet, but still no branches! They told me that the tree will start branching out once it got out of dormancy, but I have never seen a tree with no branches like this! What should I do?

Picture would help but I wouldn't worry too much,..eventually it will.

A whip is a whip and has normally no branches and yes, the new grows should give you branches,..I would have let the top leader grow and staked. A new healthy leader will for sure give you new branches and has to be pruned before bud break in spring.

Hi, Konrad. I will try to post a picture. As technically challenged as I am, it may take some time! Thank you for your advice. I did cut off about 2.5 feet, and am watching it carefully. I am a little ticked, because the nursery promised "well-rooted" branched out trees. They had promised that their trees would fruit within the first season, which is why I bought from them. I love quince, am from the Med. Region and I was looking forward to juicy, lovely quince! LOLA...But, I am going to take a picture and upload it which may also clarify it a little better.

First year seeing fruit...I don't think so, 3 or 4 maybe.
Juicy Quince..since when? Been picking back in Switzerland but rock hard!
