Xanthosoma robustum flowering and seeding
11 years ago
Originally bought this as a small tuber and kept it potted up for a few years until it was virtually bursting the pot. When it went into the ground it put on a rapid burst of growth and went up over head height. Meantime some of the pups went out into different parts of the garden.

Yesterday I noticed a flower (inflorescence) on one of the larger pups. Then I noticed there were also a few withered flowers, it had been flowering for a while. The old flowers were full of seeds.

The seeds have just spilled out round the parent plant, guess they can grow, or not, wherever they've fallen. Always interesting to see aroids flowering, more interesting to see them seed. Not so interesting if you start to get overrun by them.
