    Affirm?

  • bethnorcal9

Nope. AFFIRM is still older, and it's from a US breeder. Mine is from Europe and is named for a famous American.

Mark Twain? That one is from Switzerland, lol.

  • bethnorcal9

    Nope, it's a female person.

Beth, that wasn't an easy one - wouldn't have got it without the last hint!!

    Let's try a yellow again ...

Oh, man, that was a hard one! I did all kinds of different searches but Helen Keller never showed up!

Ooo, that's a yummy yellow, sutekesh! How about Henry Fonda?

I'm wondering if it might be Friesia/Sunsprite.

bustopher, you're too good! Your turn

My next little entry into this game is yet another AARS rose from the past. It has turned into a rather showy rose at times and does well for me. It is this one.

Two of the three roses that shared the AARS award for that year were floribundas, and both of their names started with the same letter. Who am I?

    Impatient?

That's it! Impatient it is. I'm surprised it isn't seen more often.

I just got one last yr as a bagged bareroot I think at Lowe's or HD. Hadn't seen it around for awhile so I grabbed one. Wow what a fluorescent vermillion color!

  • s

Didn't know it - was just pure luck! You're lucky Beth, it doesn't seem to be around here in Europe but I would jump at it if it was - fantastic colour and great looking plant bustopher! The only one I have close to it is this HT...

Which one? You have to choose:)

  • kublakan

LOL! I'd have to say Christopher Columbus given the darker leaves and seemingly lack of heavy thorns.

  • s

Good choice :):):) - your go

  • kublakan

OMG! It's been forever, lol. Okay, here's one I took at a rose show. I've been wanting this rose for a long time, ergo why it's my avatar on this site.

    TROIKA (ROYAL DANE)?

  • kublakan

Not Troika Beth. This one is little over 25 years younger.

Sutekesh got it! How did you figure it out?

  • s

    Searched
HMF with the hints you gave. Beth is right - does remind me of my Troika.

    Have
we had a stripey rose yet?

  • kublakan

I'm among veteran sleuths, lol. My guess: Caribia

  • s

sort of like Sherlock Holmes of roses - haha

Close but Caribia is a bit too red and this rose was bred in the US.

  • s

Nummykitchen has it - it is Claude Monet.

  • nummykitchen

I love your Claude Monet! It is a beauty!

    How about another stripey?

Nummykitchen, have to admit that I don't have Claude Monet. The photo was taken at a nursery in Germany. Your rose looks like it could be Grimaldi.

  • nummykitchen

Sutekesh, gorgeous rose none the less! I have been looking for a Claude Monet forever (I love the stripey roses) and despite being bred in the US it is not available here any longer as far as I've searched :(

Nope, this one is not Grimaldi (have that one too though and it is a bloom machine up in Michigan)

    MICHELANGELO aka THE PAINTER?

  • nummykitchen

Yes, you got it Beth, man you're quick this morning! I thought this one might be a stumper, guess not, Lol!

  • bethnorcal9

Well, it was the speckling that gave it away. And the form. Ok Let's do one more in this thread, and I think after that we should start Part 5!

    Here we go...

Who am I? First clue... I am not a mini rose!

  • Ninkasi

    Rockin' Robin?

  • kublakan

    Fourth of July?

  • bethnorcal9

Nope, neither of those. It is a climber, not bred in the USA. And looking at HMF, they class it as a "patio" rose. I wouldn't tho.
