Uh oh. Watch for eggs and for newly hatched larvae. If you catch them early on and destroy every one you find, they'll never get out of control and do major damage. Yesterday I saw a tiny hole in a potato leaf and couldn't find any pest there, but I'll be back out at the potato plants checking today. Colorado Potato Beetles will infest not only potatoes, but also tomatoes, eggplant and peppers. I think I've only found them on tomato plants maybe 1 year out of every 5 since we moved here. They prefer potato plants most of the time, but certainly will go straight to the tomato plants, especially if you aren't growing potatoes. I was just thinking to myself on Sunday or Monday that it was about potato bug season, and your discover proves it. Last year I don't think I ever saw a single potato bug, and I was thrilled by their absence, but I rarely have two seasons in a row without them, so figure we are due to have them this year.

We had a bunch last year so this should be our year for few or none--that never happens, there are always at least a few.

potatoes are just coming up . I have trouble with what i call blister bug on tomatoes rather than the Colorado beetles then i have both on potatoes. they seem to move in over night take over
