I can't remember which was better - but our local home improvement store and most online stone counter companies have a grid of which material is better under a variety of situations - stains, burns, scratches, chips, etc. I'd check with that prior to deciding which type to choose. Isn't Cambria a brand? I believe quartz is by definition just a type of granite - there is a large variety of colors & qualities (i.e. the glint - as if glitter you describe) in granite. My husband works in a rock quarry and I've seen the glitter quality you describe in rocks sold for roads and construction. Colors and veining is just a difference in regions, etc. (I believe), so it's a personal preference. Quartz is generally used to describe granite stone showing the sparkle as opposed to a duller quality.

anyway, i'd caution OP to see a whole countertop of glittericiousness and not just a square sample. not what i'd be comfortable with in a kitchen even tho the sample is attractive. feels more like a vanity to me.
