Stages 33 installation

Unless I can find a different prep sink that's similar, I'm thinking of using the 33 as a prep sink. I'm wonder if it can be installed across two bases, but I'm pretty sure the answer is no. I wanted to do an 18 inch base for the actual prep sink, with a 15 inch drawer base next to it for veggies and potatoes and such, so that the drain board would be over the 15 inch. But I notice the specs for the sink say the basin is wider than 18 inches. Is there a different way to achieve the same result with either a similar sink or different base combo? I really want to do a pull out for compost under the sink if possible. I think my ideas might not work though.

Are you trying to work with stock cabinet sizes? What sizes do you have available?

I'm planning to attach a compost bin to the door under my sink. If you want a pullout can you do a 21 inch sink base with a 12 inch pullout next to it underneath the shelf part of the stages?

We are probably going to do Sherr's RTA, so I think we can do pretty much whatever we want. But just in case we go with a more stock cabinet option, I want to explore what might work. We would prefer more of a trash can pull out for compost that could work under the sink. It might take some creativity for it to fit, but I've seen it done :)

So you want a regular sink base cabinet with doors under the basin and a pull out under the shelf part of the stages?

There are twelve inch pull outs. I would think many cabinet lines would have them. Does the stages 33 basin fit in a 21 inch cabinet? If so, I don't think you have any problem--I would think you could get 21 and 12 inch cabinets in most stock lines?

You should do one cabinet to hold the basin, then cut down the sides so that the shelf can extend over the next cabinet.

The stages 33 pdf says the basin is 19.5 inches wide. A 21 inch cabinet might be an exact fit (squeeze) but would not leave you any wiggle room since the inside width is 19.5 inches, and you would have to rout out the top edge of the cabinet for the metal lip of the sink on the non-ledge side. It would be more comfortable fitting into a 24 inch cabinet, which would also give you 2 doors instead of the one door with a 21 inch cabinet. In both cases you would have to cut down the sides of the adjoining cabinets to fit in the ledge. You can do pullouts under the sink especially if you don' t have a garbage disposal. If you have a gd, you will have to be pretty creative to fit in a trash pullout under there.

Hmmmm, I think that this idea may not work at all :-(

Why won't it work? Because you only want to do it with an 18 and a 15 inch cabinet? How much space do you have to work with?

Well I definitely don't want to do a 24 inch cabinet. We really need that base of drawers next to the sink. And the trash pullout/compost is also a must. I'm mostly worried we'd screw up the installation :)

It isn't difficult if you have a few skills. I did it for my Stages 45 with a 36 and 24" cabs. I installed a double trash/recycle and a half size cleaning supply pullouts under my bowl.

The one in the front is 18" and in front of the plumbing and GD. My 24" has the ledge above and it was not difficult to do. If you know the internal measurement of your cab you'd know if a 21" would work. If you can fit the bowl in a 21 do you have enough room for a 15 drawer stack? I have pics of my install if you decide to pursue this.

I seem to recall a GWer using the top drawer in a drawer stack for compost. I think it was lined with a stainless steel restaurant pan of some kind that could be removed to empty it. Maybe that is a possibility?
