Cat Palms For Screening & Close to House

We just purchased a home in Boynton Beach Florida. It has some Cat Palms, about 5' high, planted as screening next to AC unit and for decoration in front of house. Very close to the house.


I think I read someplace these things can get very wide. Question: Is planting these things in close proximity to anything a mistake? Can they be controlled.
