Hi. So I have had this orchid for a year and a half now -- my first one and it has done well...

It is dormant now, I cut the stems back after all the buds stopped. A new leaf was growing and two new roots (just happened in last week or so). But I didn't realize the first root was a root and I tried to wipe the white off because it looked like dust. Well I ruined that root. It ended up shriveling up. I decided to cut it back entirely so it didn't hurt the plant. Now I have this like sunken in area that is green/gray colored. Doesn't look good. Maybe traveling up the leaf now. This was my first orchid. I have two others so am learning as I go... I am not sure what do to at this point. I hope I can save it. Any thoughts would be appreciated. Thanks!
