Here in Iowa we got into the 60s yesterday and felt great about that! I checked my containers and found the cool loving plants (poppies, larkspur and strawflower) have sprouted but that is about it.

I am psyched I have been trying lavender for year to no avail. Now I have lots of seedlings popping up. It was in the 60's today starting to sprout.

that's great about your lavender!! When I transplanted last years poppies most got eaten by the bunnies, so before I move them out of the ws container (which should be very soon) I need to figure out a way to protect them. Will you have any trouble like that with bunnies eating your lavender?

I think rabbits should leave lavender alone, because of the strong fragrance. I have a great patch of lavender that I wintersowed a few years ago. It has matured into a nice mound with hundreds of blossoms.

Oh, that mature mound of lavender sounds wonderful!!! And a perfect way to get it by winter sowing!! I did get my poppies planted today and surrounded 2 of the patches with chicken wire. I ran out so had to be creative for the 3rd patch and covered it with a clear plastic tub with holes drilled into it and a crack which I wedged open for added ventilation. I'll have to keep an eye on it, but at least the bunnies won't get a quick lunch from it like last year!
