These units are Mitsubishi mini-split heat pumps. They are very efficient and can run in temperatures down to -20 deg. F without a electric back-up strip. They are great in heat and cool modes. The major benefit is you can connect up to three indoor units to one outdoor condenser. This provides flexibility with differing indoor temperatures. Hope this answers your questions. Heat pump frozen in summer.

If your heat pump is freezing up in summer (on either the indoor or outdoor unit), you could have a refrigerant leak, clogged filter, or very dirty coils that are keeping heat from transferring as it should.

In this case you should turn the system off to prevent further damage, and contact your HVAC professional for assistance.
