I hope you don't plan to dig them up and sell them now. It is best to dig them up when they go dormant. Enjoy their flowers for one last time if you don't plan to continue growing them. It must have taken your Dad 15-20 years to get this peony to increase this much.

I know he and mom put their hearts into that patch, its been there, yes id say 15 years. I know they meant a lot to them, and I will be transplanting some along the house front. yes , I did read to dig them in the fall. thank you.

do you sell these plants by the bulb ? I know there is a cluster of bulbs under a plant. I have no idea.

The roots on fernleaf peonies are more fragile than other herbaceous peonies. I'd suggest that you look into the process before fall so you can be sure you won't destroy your plants. There's quite a bit of info from an experienced fernleaf grower on the peony forum at All Things Plants from last fall, even has pictures. Also you'll probably want to plant them away from the house a bit, they want full sun and drier conditions than most other peonies.

Another thought--if you have a local nursery they might be interested in buying your roots and they'd probably do the digging/dividing for you.

Where are you located? If you are close enough to me I may be interested in buying some from you or doing a trade. It looks like you really have a lot.

That's great for getting back to me just wash the peony with absolutely no soil on it. let dry wrap in dry news paper.may write down its a doll or something lol thanks so very much.

how close to sioux falls are you. and what are you charging for the bulbs?

George is aprox 50 miles east and a few miles south, of Sioux falls.. how many bulbs per plant are there ? do ya buy bulbs seperatly or in clusters ? I have no idea. I looked online, the price of the plant is crazy ! one person said you want 3 bulbs under a plant, I don't know if that's rite or not.

the bulbs will be in clusters under the plant, but the bulbs are different "grades" which affects the price.

from $15 to $25 dollars depending on the plant ? would that be fair

You mentioned $15-$25 per plant, $10 if smaller. The number of eyes is more important to me than the size of the tuber since the stems and subsequent blooms come from the eyes. Peony tubers are usually sold as 2-3 eyes or 3-5 eyes. When we have moved some of our herbaceous peonies, I have noticed a few with no eyes at all. I do not know if ones with no eyes will even bloom, and be careful to not cut into the tubers when you dig. It's better to dig deeper than you might think is necessary than to damage your tubers.

yes, im gonna stay at 15 or under, I just want them to have a better home, its what my parents would want.. the plot has thinned down over the years, I should have done this long ago. some may want to dig their own, which is fine to. tks
