I've lived here in northwest burbs of Chicago for 30 years in this house.

We have 1 tree in the backyard which is a Norway maple. Just got new neighbors last year who have a chain link on there property adjoining ours. They party and drink on weekends and are very loud every day. They live in their backyard.

I wanted to grow tall priviits there but the more I read the more I realize the Norway maple will suck the life out of them. The Norway maple is right next to the fence. We also have a ton of electrical wires an cable wires in our yard wth electrical poles.

The Norway maple has shallow roots and we get a ton of debris. In the yard after a bad storm. I,m thinking this tree could easily fall with all the weather changes we are having here in the Midwest ( tornados) .

I am 68 and hope to get this yard pretty and Private as soon as possible or before I,m dead. Lol

Considering the electrical wires any suggestions on fast growing shrubs after I cut the maple down? At least they will have some sun.

I would appreciate any help I can get.
