Flamenco Queen & Friends
The current performance of my first bulb of "Flamenco Queen" reblooming after 2 years fortifies my inclination, to identify this modern hybrid with the best novelty of the last Decade! Look for yourself. The bloom has considerable size, the color profile is shaped by dramatic contrasts and, importantly the segments are very broad.

Yes, I have already two batches of seedlings from earlier crosspollinations (I am lucky owner of 3 bulbs of Flamenco Queen), namely from "PapDon1" x "Flamenco Queen" and from ("Ambiance" x "UnderTheLadder")#8 x "Flamenco Queen".

Great performance, from a particularly big bulb of "PapDon1":
2 scapes 5 florets each, and again, I pollinated all these from "Flamenco Queen" - THEIR bloom just opening when time was almost over-due for PapDon.

Even greater performance from the sibling "PapDon2" earlier this year, in my kitchen - but I do not breed from this one, because it does not likely provide the prospect of "dramatic color contrasts"

As to pollination from "Flamenco Queen" - I had no success with "Striped Panther" but I will try again. The same applies for "PapDon2" as pollen donor. I consider either pairing, if successful, a MAJOR COUP. However, I already have 16 big seedlings of "Striped Panther" x "PapMinPic".
I have also given a try to pollination of "Appleblossom" (which rarely if at all will produce seeds) from "Flamenco Queen" and from "PapDon1". Never say never...
And I am just making up my mind to pollinate all flowers of "Flamenco Queen" (2 on the first scape and 4 on the 2nd) from "Striped Panther" - again, "never say never": "Striped Panther" is most likely a DIPloid, in other words incapable of impregnating a TETraploid like "Flamenco Queen"
Now I move back to my batch of seedlings from "Ambiance" x "UnderThe Ladder" again.
#19 is a productive sibling, 2 huge scapes, 6 florets each, and a 3rd much smaller scape with the common "4 corner" umbel.

The color of "#19" is well reproduced in my picture - well at least when watched on MY screen (flat screen from my LapTop) which might be a crucial point; that means, the color might look different on another type of screen. Sure is, I will not breed from this specimen, for the same reason that I do not breed from "PapDon2". My goal is broad white midribs over the whole length of the floral segments, venation in burgundy red and and lot of spots. And a nice shape, as shown in "#8"
