Dear all,

I have the following situation. We have a gardener who comes to take care of our lawn and bushes - usually when we are not home, so we never see him. Every year he dusts our lawn with something. I would like to start a small organic herb/fruit garden in the back section of the backyard, but I would like to know if the stuff they put on the lawn (and on the backyard grass) is harmful. I was going to dig holes and put new organic soil in, but I'm pretty sure it will soak up whatever was in the ground around it. I don't want to plant things that will not be safe to eat because of the treatment we received for the lawn.

I asked the gardener about it and he said it was safe (forgot what the name of the substance was). But I don't know if he really knows it...

What is your advice?
