Rug dilemma

We are using a red chair, two cream colored chairs( they are not alike) and a dark brown sofa. I have hardwood floors. I need a rug but don't know if I should stay neutral or go for colorful to pull it all together?

An antique kilim rug would be beautiful in your room. It will give character to the room and hide a multitude of sins.

Thank you both. This is actually my daughters new house and they are I the process of putting the room together so no pictures to be taken yet. I thought there might be a rule of thumb. I am helping her with decorating dilemmas. she has a budget of around 400.00 and wants a 8x 10 size. Now I know that is going to be hard to find but to me if there is a will there IS a way.
