lighting over the sink

I am clueless what to put over sink. I chose a globe fixture , hoping it would work but I am not so sure now. And I am not sure what to put in the center of our dining room now that we have a breakfast bar. suggestions?

The globe is way too far from the sink to act as task lighting. You need a drop pendant that will hang just out of heads reach. Most folks today are putting chandeliers in them dining rooms. Look for one that's about 3/4 the length of dieter of your table. It should hang between 30 and 36 inches from the top of the table.

I can't do a chandelier because of the bar. I was going to move my old chandelier back but the vent took the center area of that side. I had to take it down because it was hitting our head.

I will take another photo.

if I put a pendant above the sink....it would look like there is too many pendants

Try also getting under Cabinet lighting if the light is for function then under Cabinet will make the room alot bigger!

I am hoping you can see the vent and the door. so chandelier was blocking the traffic flow. sorry my dining room is a mess

I have a recessed light over my sink. I think the little round globe looks out of place and I'd have a recessed light installed there.

You can have a chandelier and the 3 breakfast-bar-pendants, too.

Choose a DR chandelier that is a different style but has a bit of the chrome-silver finish the pendants have.

I would love to put a chandelier but the only light in the dining room is the center of that room. a chandelier used to be there, but I took it down because the table will not be under it. It was blocking the traffic flow anyhow. The table will be under the vent. it will be a chandelier-free dining room, unless I move the vent.

Many do not bother with chandeliers in DRs any longer. Chandeliers limit where the DR table can be placed + are one added item to clean.

I'd call an electrician and have several pot lights (recessed lights) installed in a ceiling pattern that was attractive & functional. Electric sconces are a possibility too.

I would put recessed lighting over the sink. For the dining area, I always love a chandelier. You can find one that will look great with your pendants. If it is not a huge deal to move the vent, which I'm sure others on this site can tell you, then do it and center a chandy over your table.

I have thought about doing a switch-a-roo with the center light and the vent.

I would say you just have to reposition you're spot lights. And get cabinet lighting which you did so if it makes sense reposition you're lighting so you form and function!
