Some leafy greens (lettuce, chard, upland cress, garden cress), green onions, garlic shoots, asparagus, parsley, pea shoots, and a few cherry tomatoes. The green beans are blooming, so we'll have beans soon. That's about it so far in terms of fresh food. We still are eating preserved food from last year's garden though.

The overwintered kale is marvelous. Just starting to bolt. My spinach and lettuce and carrots are coming up, finally. I have some beautiful parsley. I'm replenishing the soil where they are at and they're loving it.

I came back to add broccoli. The heads only made it to about 1/3 their normal size and began to bolt, so I harvested them all right then as we prefer to eat them before they flower. Normally we wouldn't harvest broccoli until around Mother's Day.

The greens in the greenhouse are bolting, mostly, but I am still picking leaves of spinach, kale, and chard in there. I also have some green onions that I started in there last fall. Outside, the asparagus is in full swing. I have been picking overwintered cilantro and arugula. The spinach and lettuce is in the baby leaf stage. Radishes are great this year. The lambsquarter is almost ready to pick. And several strawberries are showing pink.

Oh I have cut two medium size heads of broccoli from the purchased plants I put in before my transplants went in. I am concerned that my broc won't produce full size heads. Our last frost this year was in early March and we've only had a few nights in the 40s since. They've been too warm too early. We will see. Memorial Day is my usual harvest for broc.

I got to eat strawberries from Monis Saturday and I thinned the garden out the other day and cooked the greens with onions and bacon. love it

Kim, I got so many strawberries today.... I picked twice, morning and evening... (I miss some most times) and tomorrow I'll make strawberry ice cream. :)

Tons of lettuce, radish and green onions! Sugar snap peas are over two feet up the trellis but still no flowers...

Shelley, You'll get blooms and peas soon. I just harvested the first sugar snap peas yesterday and think about how much further south I am. Your peas sound like they are right on schedule, especially in this crazy weather year when the temperatures have been all over the place and we had far too many cloudy days in April.

my ss peas are 2 feet and no blooms yet either. but I am 2 weeks behind you Dawn, so soon ! I cant wait till littleman sees them.

My granddaughter and I ate the first of the SSS peas today. They were still tiny, but we ate them. Lots of blooms on the early planting of peas.

Cilantro, onions, spinach, asparagus, various cabbages, and I cannot forget that I have already eaten jalapenos off my overwintered plant and today I picked two red ripe jalapenos off the same plant. There are many more left. And folks don't know it but canna is edible. Some taste better than others, but my daughter and I have been munching on canna shoots for a month now. Also sweet potato leaves. I am sure there other things we have munched on this spring. Give me time and I will remember. And just to get some of your taste buds going I am expecting my first "ripe" green tomatoes soon. Come on "oklahoma" green chili!

oh! I just remembered garlic.

Sounds like gardens around the state are starting to produce. I don't have a veggie garden just grow ornamentals. My neighbor and I share a veggie garden it's on her place. I trade her beef for veggies. Her garden has not yet began to produce but it is going gangbusters. I helped her plant this year and she turned me loose with the tiller, that was dangerous!! Had a blast but a lot of work. Can't wait for the harvest, food always tastes better if you grow it.

we munched a lot of lettuce tonite while watering before the rain came LOL Littleman loves lettuce. My favorite is freckles romaine. His favorite is anything green! I only watered a little so the rain could soak right in right?
