Winter sowing blues

Hi all! Nice to be back here! And I apologize for starting the season with a complaint.

But, I am feeling a little discouraged about the lack of activity in my milk jugs this year. Seems to me I had sprouts a lot earlier last year, but since I didn't write it down I don't know for sure. Granted we had a miserable winter with tons of snow, and a cold long spring. But here it is almost May and this is what I have to show so far:

Butterflyweed-four sprouts

Swamp milkweed-four sprouts

A bunch of Blue wood asters

And a few straggles of other things-one Goldenrod, one lobelia siphilitica, two or three anaphalis. Nothing at all from the Liatris ligulistylus. They did horribly last year too, with no survivors. They were also the last things up, so I'm not too surprised about them. Still, I have to admit, things are off to a slow start. i'm wondering if I should try to buy plants.

Oh, and I dropped my jug of pycnanthemum muticum, so I don't hold out much hope for those tiny seeds. At least most of last years plants look good. Milkweed aren't up yet, but I didn't see anything on the local wild plants either.
