My builder uses Houzz Pro to plan the timeline and give detailed estimates and daily updates with photos of progress, and provide invoices at pre-agreed key points in the build. This made the whole experience much more efficient and stress-free.

What wood is the island made of? Love the wood top.

    Matthew, I doubt there was any stain used on the wood. Walnut takes on its own rich color when oiled. We use a Natural Oil on the counter tops we fabricate and its brings out the natural color beautifully. We also have a SatinSeal finish for more durability and is waterproof. It too does not contain a stain but brings out the beauty of walnut.

      I assume the BB was purchased unfinished. The stain color is beautiful and what we'd like to go with in our kitchen. Can you provide the color of the stain? Thank you!

      You can order John Boos walnut butcher block from Old World Butcher Block, oldworld@fairpoint.net. Easy process, just send your counter measurements and they will ship to you. Installation is easy too. I did all walnut counters in my kitchen with cream cabinetry and it looks great.

      We ordered the butcher block from one of our suppliers here locally, and then it was finished with an oil rubbed food safe finish, as previously mentioned, no stain would be used as that is the natural colouring of solid walnut.
