Yeah. I'm hoping that will help bring in some more color too. I'm hesitant to pick out a rug until I figure out the color of curtains.

I have an area rug from my previous home but it's a tan and beige color too. Not much color. I guess I'm a little afraid of color. Lol

A dark curtain will add lots of contrast but I would say white or cream with a tan or brown pattern would look very nice and keep the space feeling big.

I suggest you start with the basics first.. Furniture, accessories, area rug. All of that in place will help you get a better idea of the color/pattern scheme for curtains that would work in the space.

Hello rdeiss0729, Using a color for the room is good, however, I think the Hawaiian Koa floor have already been you to the punch. The floors have a strong color and pattern influence once you take the paper up. Personally, I would probably stick with a neutral for the curtains and bring in color with your rug and other accents. Of course it depends too on hope many windows you have. If it is just the one in the photo then you can probably get away with adding color there as well as with a rug. I have four windows in my living area so I'm thinking about doing a light grey or a linen color for my curtains to keep the space looking open and light. My area rug is blue.

Plus I would choose your rug and other big items before picking curtains. Curtains would be much easier to bring in and try out! You can always return them if it doesn't work. But a large area rug is tough. Mine is 9x12 and HEAVY! :)
