Smaller appliances

Hello all. Short overview of problem. San Francisco, Pacific Heights area, SMALL efficiency condo. Major remodel coming. SMALL kitchen. Owner thinks that full sized appliances, as suggested by a realtor, will be just fine in this SMALL kitchen. I think this is crazy talk. Very short on storage space in kitchen. Wants somewhat higher end stuff in brushed chrome colors, as the 1st choice. Is there a web site of appliances, stove, fridge, dishwasher, washer / dryer for the smaller side of things? Fridge would have to be a bit taller then most and narrow. Quiet dishwasher. I do not know if everything is going to be electric or gas at this point. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Lots of options with European Manufacturers. I have given a list of options below but there are more:

Dishwasher - Miele or Bosch 18"

Fridge - Leibherr 24" or 30" Fridge freezer unit, integrated or counter depth tall unit.

Stove -Bluestar makes a 24" all gas range which is well regarded and can be had in a bunch of colors.

Cooktop - Combi units from Miele, Wolf or Gaggenau will allow you to get a 24" unit with induction and gas if needed.

Vent Hoods - Modernaire, Prizer, etc make hoods is 24" models

Ovens - Miele, Bosch, Gaggenau, Whirlpool, Fagor all make 24" units

Microwave - Sharp and Panasonic makes these in a variety of sizes

Washer Dryer - Miele, Asko, Bosch all make 24" units. Frigidaire used to make a 24" front loader but I am not sure they still do.

There is a lot of information on the forum. Start with a design for your kitchen and post it on the kitchen forum for great feedback. Then you can start investigating what appliances fit into your remodel. What is your budget? Unfortunately, smaller appliances usually come with a higher price tag.

    Good luck!

In addition to the above, check out Summit. The tall, skinny 13.8 cu ft refrigerator is very nice and they also make a European style 18" dishwasher with water softener.

I understand your plight, but it sounds like you're designing for a client, and his wishes are paramount. Show him options either way. There was a New York city kitchen posted here years ago that was the size of a moderate bathroom. It had a 36" range and a full sized fridge, plus sink, maybe DW, and storage. Not a lot of storage, but enough. There was also small but adequate prep space.

Also look at pictures of RV and Tiny House kitchens. There are some with full sized residential fridges and 30" ranges. There's always give and take. Some want more cabinets and counters, and others want full sized appliances. Either works.

This is a good time to do a full size cardboard mockup for the client. Let them see the actual working conditions and move around within the space confines.

Not a designer, only in the door and window business. Had no idea about any mockup being needed or available. I thank you all for your info. IF anyone has other ideas please let me know

I second the suggestion on researching appliances on AJ Madison.
