We are knocking over our existing home and building new, but have some limitations in moving exterior walls and windows due to Califronia Coastal Commision restrictions.

Our kitchen concerns are
1. Desk placement, we love having a computer/tv combo unit in the kitchen to use as we cook. This will be our downstairs computer station, but its current placement in front of the pantry blocks flow and is really close to the range.

2. What size of refrigerator? Bite the bullet and get the 2, 36" subzeros? Will smaller suffice? we have a huge family and host get togethers frequently, but wondering what is popular and isn't over the top.

3. Peninsula vs no peninsula. I like the idea of no peninsula for flow and dining room table extension for large parties, but storage and counterspace may be essential

What we like about the current design:
huge island with flat surface, ie no sink.
walk-in pantry
sink under window (window can be moved but not enlarged too much)
