Garden prep

It is spring planting time again. Also warm early again. I divided my backyard into 6 2' wide rows each about 25' long and since I have quite heavy sand, each one got 2 cubic feet of core and 80 pounds of composted organic cow manure and will be side dressed with Milorganite during the growing season. I have them set up so that each bed gets watered individually by hand, since the total is really so small. Each row was one round trip with my electric Mantis. I think that some time next month or so my back will finally recover!

Last fall the garlics and tulips went in and are up and looking real good, and the onion plants and multiplier sets are also already in this spring. I think that in the coming week I will gamble and put in the rest including the tender stuff. Radishes, carrots, peas and coles are already a little late, but there will also be squash, beans, melons, tomatoes and peppers, although not much of any of them. Plus an earth box of sweet potatoes, but those will be later. It will end up being pretty tight if most of that works out at all!

Then I am going fishing....
