Sheila, that's a good idea. I've been doing that as I repot. The only problem you might run into would be if the weather turned cold, you'd have to bring them in.

Otherwise, I've done it with many different orchids and find they like it and it makes watering easy. I actually potted a Cym today in a basket. I do add sphag above the coco liners to keep some moisture. I also add some wood chips. I also only use orchiata.

Just make sure the liners are not lined with a plastic coating which prevents water from draining. I ran into that. I poke holes in the liner and add a layer of sphag to hold the wood chips.

Thx Jane. Adding the layer of sphag is a good thought, wish i'd have done that. I repotted four catts this a.m.. The rest of my catts are smaller plants and I'll go with potting this year.

They'll be fine. I'm a bad waterer so I always add some spag. If the baskets are outdoors, they can dry out fast in Florida. We are so dry for so many months, its scary. Hopefully, you get more rain than we do.
