Oxboy, I can understand your anxiousness when it comes to doing as much as you are and having issues.

My thoughts and I do not live in your climate.

I use the Gritty Mix, somewhat altered. In a very hot, dry climate and having to water so frequently. I sometimes wonder if the Gritty Mix is the best choice, unless you are watering 2-3 times a week.

The roots on your plant do not look good. They should be thick, firm and a off white color. These look desiccated.

A bit of a concern with the trunk being surrrounded by foam. The foam would create a moist, swetty environment and not breathe.

Sunburn can be an issue, but usually if you turn your plant after it has been sitting in one position, then the side which is not accustomed to sun will burn. If it stays in one location and not turned this should not happen unless dehydrated.

Best in really hot dry weather to keep in a place where it receives filtered sunlight during hottest time of day.

Extremely hot, dry condition can hinder flowering also.

I realize that this does not help you with this plant.

I am thinking that the soil sweated with the heat and the foam collar.
