Got a Pineapple

I got a pineapple as a late Birthday present and don't know where to start. It appears to be smooth cayenne and Is a little worse for wear, but hopefully not to bad.

This is my first real brom (besides airplants) and I know it has to be repotted into a better mixture but, I don't know what that mixture should be. Right now It's sitting in my southfacing window sill, but it will go outside on the 28th as that's the last frost date here.

Looking for Any advice and which soil mixture to use

Thanks!

I've been using palm/cactus mix for mine, and they seem to be doing well. I have them in clay pots in the back yard, and they get quite a bit of sun - more than most of the bromeliads that I have, but they seem to prefer partial shade. They get watered by my sprinkling system, which is on briefly three times a week. If I watered them manually, I would probably water them twice a week and make sure that they have good drainage. They seem like very hardy plants - more so than some of the others I have.

Slowly acclimate it to full sun (in zone 3a it will need all the sun it can get) and bring it inside if temps dip lower than 45F at night. Depending on how it was grown, it may not be used to sun, wind or cold yet.

    Thanks for the replies!

I'll go out and look for some cactus soil and a new clay pot. Right now the leaves are showing symptoms of over watering so hopefully I can correct that! Which by the way isnt my fault as I've only had it for 3 days and havnt watered it yet. Just sayin :P. It also appears to be in one of those green plastic pots inside of the other bigger pot, but it's really wedged in there so we'll see how that works out!

And yes, I can't wait for it to be able to go outside! It probably does need a lot of accumulation for life outside... I doubt it's been outside at all in its whole life. That and it was bought at a grocery store. So it hasn't received the best amount of light and or care....

Thanks again! Hopefully I can successfully take care of it and get some pups soon

Thanks Ianna! There does seem to be a pup coming up from the base.

This plant is meh...... I've been slowing accumulating it to full sun and it's moved six feet in two months and isn't even at the full full sun stage. Yet some of the leaves have manged to get burnt.

It's at quite a lean but I don't see any life threatening problems. Other than that the soil has been drenched by rain for accouple weeks but the weather's about to get up into the 30's here so it should dry out. Also some of the leaves were weedwacked off by my dad so and it's infested with spiderwebs!

Here's it now... Lost alot of leaves!
