I'm sure the turtles are right. I trust the signs I see in nature all around me more than the weather forecast.

At least you got the ornamentals planted. I hope they don't drown this week because, if the forecast verifies, there's gonna be a whole lot of rain. Many of the ponds in our area have refilled nicely with all this rain and every pond has turtles and frogs all over it. Yesterday there were turtles out sunning themselves on logs, stumps, pond banks, etc. I think they have been enjoying the sunshine as much as the plants have.

Our clay is awfully wet, but so far the only casualty has been 1 dill plant at the low, very wet, end of the garden. It was a volunteer and I left it where it sprouted. The dill I actually planted on purpose is higher up in the sloping garden and in sandier clay at the garden's west end so it seems alright so far. I've been hoping this week's rainfall will miss us, but that seems really unlikely. The sunshine has been so nice and the plants have been loving it and have put out a lot of new growth. The gardener has been happy as the squishiness of the garden pathways has diminished a lot the last couple of days. I've ready for a whole new round of squishiness, I guess, or I might as well be because it's coming.

Back when the drought was set in and really bad, 2010 or 2011, I would ask my husband if I took a box full of turtles and shooed them across the road would that count and make it rain!! He said he didnot think making the turtles cross would work they had to cross on their own accord. Well heck, it was a good thought. When we saw them the other day crossing, he wanted me to jump out of the truck and shoo them back the other way, I said no way it has to be natural. ha ha
